Steve Maughan

Steve Maughan was a former NFL draft pick who played linebacker. He was drafted by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the 3rd round of the 1976 NFL Draft, and he was drafted No. 91 overall. Maughan played in 4 of the 6 preason games of the expansion season. During the forth preseason game against the Miami Dolphins, Maughan had a serious shoulder injury after he collided pad-to-pad with another player, and he was placed on injured reserve from 1976-78 seasons. In 1977, while recovering from his shoulder injury, he got diagnosed with Hodgkin's disease. After undergoing radiation treatment for the rest of the year, his cancer disease went into remission and he was able to enter the Tampa Bay Buccaneers' training camp at the start of the 1978 season. Unfortunately, his health was still weakened due to the disease, therefore he wasn't healthy enough yet for football. As a result of not being fully healthy, he suffered a possible career-ending injury after he broke two of his ribs during training camp. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers released him, and he never played a season in the NFL.
